Roundhouse Foundation Deepens Support for Prehospital Ultrasound Project with Additional Grant to Mercy Flights

By September 10, 2025No Comments
Building on a transformative partnership announced earlier this year, Mercy Flights and Jackson County Fire District 1 are excited to share a major expansion in their ultrasound initiative, made possible by a second grant from the Roundhouse Foundation. The Foundation has awarded Mercy Flights $4900 to fund the purchase of a Butterfly Enterprise Account, a comprehensive software platform that will allow all personnel to track outcomes, analyze data, and monitor trends related to prehospital ultrasound use.
This new grant complemented the Foundation’s initial investment, which funded four portable ultrasound machines, two for Mercy Flights’ air medical fleet and two for Jackson County Fire District 1’s ground ambulances. These devices enable first responders to perform real-time assessments of critical conditions such as internal bleeding, cardiac activity, and organ damage, significantly improving early diagnosis and treatment in emergency settings.
The addition of the Butterfly Enterprise Account will allow both organizations to fully realize the potential of this technology by collecting and analyzing usage data, tracking patient outcomes, and continually improving protocols and training. This data-driven approach is expected to elevate the quality of care and provide measurable insights into the impact of ultrasound in the field.
Tyler Baker, Mercy Flights Flight Operations Manager, emphasized the significance:
“With the Enterprise Account, we’re not just using advanced tools, we’re learning from every patient encounter. It allows us to track what’s working, refine our approach, and make evidence-based improvements. It’s a game-changer for prehospital care.”
This expanded project not only reinforces the region’s commitment to innovation in emergency care but also highlights the powerful role that philanthropic partnerships can play in driving lasting community health outcomes.
