Mercy Flights is proud to announce the opening of its new helicopter air base at the Ashland Airport, marking a significant milestone in expanding emergency medical services for southern Oregon and parts of northern California. To celebrate this exciting addition, Mercy Flights will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony in partnership with the Ashland Chamber of Commerce on April 30, 2026.
The new Ashland base strengthens Mercy Flights’ ability to provide timely, lifesaving care by reducing response times, improving reliability during challenging weather conditions, and increasing overall operational capacity. While Medford remains Mercy Flights’ primary base, the Ashland location enhances regional coverage and ensures more consistent access to air medical transport for communities in and around Ashland.
“The new base represents our continued commitment to the communities we serve,” said Sheila Clough, Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Flights. “By positioning resources closer to patients and leveraging Ashland’s geographic advantages, we’re improving access to critical care when and where it’s needed most.”
The April 30 ribbon-cutting ceremony will be a small gathering of community leaders, local partners, and Mercy Flights staff to celebrate the collaboration that made this milestone possible.
For more than seven decades, Mercy Flights has served southern Oregon and northern California with a mission rooted in community, compassion, and excellence. The Ashland air base represents the next step forward in that mission, ensuring faster, more reliable access to critical care for the region.
