Emergency Ground Transport

Mercy Flights provides ground coverage to 2.000 sq. miles of Jackson County (Jackson County Ambulance Service Area #2). In 2025 our team provided 32,000 ground transports and 600 Critical Care ground transport.

Mercy Flights hosts a ground fleet comprised of:

• 30 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 250 and 3500
• Two Ford e350 type 2-box ambulances
• Three support vehicles
• Six MIH vehicles

The Communications Center

The Communications Center provides 24/7 state-of-the-art dispatching services for all Mercy Flights vehicles.  Acting as a direct link with Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon, the Mercy Flights Communication Center receives 9-1-1 call information and dispatches the closest ambulance resource.   Live tracking of all ambulances is performed through mobile GPS systems.

Within minutes, our trained paramedics are on the scene, providing advanced life support and transportation to the most appropriate medical facility.

Non-Emergency Transport

Mercy Flights also provides non-emergency transportation with advanced notice. For transportation to and from local airports and hospitals or non-emergency service, call (541) 779-6551. Inter-facility transports to areas outside of the indicated service area are available with advance notice.

At Mercy Flights, collaboration and continuous training are essential to providing exceptional care when emergencies happen. Through ongoing joint training opportunities, emergency responders strengthen communication, coordination, and clinical skills to ensure the highest level of patient care across our region.

Emergency Air Transportation

If you are critically ill or injured, the care you need may not always be close to home. Mercy Flights provides rapid, safe transport to the most appropriate medical facility, with experienced Critical Care Flight Nurses and Flight Paramedics delivering emergency and ICU level care every step of the way.

Mercy Flights provides transport within 550 air miles of Medford. Our state-of-the-art Communications Center performs live flight tracking of all Mercy Flights’ aircraft.

Authorization

Mercy Flights cares for and transports patients from both hospital facilities and responding with medical first responder partners to critical scene locations. Interfacility transport requires a physician to document medical necessity prior to initiating the transport. Non-emergent or scheduled flights are evaluated on a case-by-case basis as some may not be covered by insurance if deemed by the insurance carrier not to be a covered service. In these cases, financial responsibility may become the patient’s responsibility. If uncertain, contact Mercy Flights to help navigate the request.

Fixed Wing Airplane

Our pressurized, twin-engine aircraft are equipped to provide advanced critical care transport for patients facing serious illness or injury, from heart attacks and traumatic injuries to pediatric emergencies and other complex medical conditions. Each flight is staffed by a Critical Care Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic, delivering expert care with every transport.

Helicopter

The Mercy Flights helicopter provides quick emergency response and direct delivery to the appropriate medical facility. Helicopter transports for life threatening situations in remote areas allows for quicker access to emergency care.  The ability to deliver directly to the receiving hospital also saves time.

Mercy Flights’ Critical Care Flight Team staffs each helicopter with a pilot, a Critical Care Flight Nurse, and a Flight Paramedic, all specially trained and equipped to provide advanced care for the region’s most critical scene responses and inter-hospital transfers within a 150-mile radius of Medford, Oregon. The helicopter is also available for longer-distance inter-hospital transports when it is the most appropriate option for a patient’s time-sensitive care.

Critical Care Equipment & Capabilities

When every second matters, Mercy Flights delivers advanced critical care in the air. Our aircraft function as mobile intensive care units, equipped with sophisticated technology, specialized medications, and highly trained Critical Care Flight Nurses and Paramedics capable of providing ICU-level care throughout transport.

Advanced Critical Care Capabilities Include:

• Hamilton-T1 Ventilators for invasive and non-invasive ventilation across a wide range of adult and pediatric critical care needs.
• Sapphire Infusion Pumps for precise delivery of critical medications and fluids.
• Advanced Critical Care Monitoring, including invasive blood pressure and hemodynamic monitoring capabilities.
• Whole Blood Administration for patients experiencing severe blood loss and traumatic injuries. H
• Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) therapy for patients with respiratory distress requiring advanced oxygen support.
• Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) to assist with rapid assessment and clinical decision-making during transport.
• Expanded Critical Care Medication Pharmacological, providing access to advanced medications beyond standard EMS protocols.
• Extended Critical Care Protocols that support ICU-level interventions and complex patient management during transport.
• Night Vision Goggle (NVG) Operations for helicopter missions, enhancing safety and response capabilities during nighttime flights.
