Pioneering new ways to care for those in need is part of our DNA—and as our community faces growing challenges accessing healthcare, we continue to evolve. At Mercy Flights, we bring mobile healthcare directly to neighbors who need help navigating the healthcare system, because every individual’s health contributes to the health of our region.
In 2016, we launched our Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) program, delivering personalized care in patients’ homes. Led by a multidisciplinary team, including CHWs, EMTs, Paramedics and Community Paramedic with advanced training, this team supports our community members while improving outcomes across the continuum of care—from pre-hospital support to post-visit recovery.
Since its launch, the MIH program has significantly improved patient outcomes, and its impact continues to grow. Mercy Flights is redefining how care is delivered—bringing smarter, more connected, and more accessible healthcare to our community.
Our Team Provides
- Quick response to patient needs.
- On-the-spot healthcare treatment is provided in the convenience of the patient’s home.
- An alternate response to those who are experiencing behavioral health crises and non-emergent treatment, reducing the need for a full multi-emergency service response, including police, fire, and ambulance.
- Provides post-hospital care, focusing on chronic disease management, health education, and medication education and management.
- Care coordination in a fragmented healthcare system by acting as a liaison for all (patient, family, and care team).

Everyone faces tough moments, and sometimes we all need extra help. Jackson County Mental Health, together with Mercy Flights’ Mobile Integrated Healthcare team, offers Crisis Intervention Specialists who can provide immediate support when it’s needed most.

Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) & In-Home Emergency Care (IHEC)
Mercy Flights’ Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) program brings healthcare directly to patients in their homes, improving access to care, supporting chronic disease management, and helping reduce unnecessary emergency department visits. A key component of the program is In-Home Emergency Care (IHEC), which provides same-day urgent medical evaluation and treatment in the comfort of a patient’s home.
Through our partnership with instED, patients benefit from physician-supported care, telehealth consultations, nurse navigation, and coordinated follow-up services. Together, Mercy Flights and instED are creating a seamless care-at-home model that improves patient outcomes, enhances continuity of care, and helps people receive the right care at the right time.
Sensory Bag Program
Supporting Comfort and Communication During Emergencies
Mercy Flights has partnered with the Autism Society of Oregon to provide sensory bags designed to support individuals who may benefit from additional comfort, communication tools, and sensory accommodations during emergency situations.
Recognizing the growing need for sensory support during medical emergencies, the Mercy Flights Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) team collaborated with representatives from the Autism Society of Oregon to develop this program. Sensory bags are available to help calm, comfort, and assist individuals who may be experiencing sensory sensitivities, communication challenges, anxiety, or emotional distress during or following an emergency event.
These resources can benefit patients, family members, caregivers, and others affected by emergency situations, helping healthcare professionals provide more personalized and compassionate care.
Items Included in the Sensory Bags
- Each sensory bag may contain a variety of supportive tools, including:
- Noise-canceling headphones
- Sunglasses
- Stress ball or fidget item
- Non-verbal communication cards
- Pen and reusable whiteboard
- Weighted blanket or weighted bear
By providing these resources, Mercy Flights and the Autism Society of Oregon are working together to create a more inclusive and supportive emergency care experience for everyone in our community.
